A family update...

Well .. we have hit 6 months already! Little Chloe’s life has been a wonderful whirlwind of an adventure. I haven’t blogged as regularly as the early days of Hayley as this time round I haven’t had the luxury of maternity leave, so time has been of short supply juggling work and babies and a 7 year old [and of course a good looking husband].

Whilst I am certainly a little tired from it all [lack of sleep is perhaps also a contributing factor] I can’t say that it hasn’t been a lovely journey up until this point! I loved every minute of my pregnancy with her and have loved the first 6 Months. Perhaps circumstance or age, whatever the case, we are truly blessed and I am most grateful.

Chloe is a sweet content happy little soul. From day one she slept in the Cosy Coo whilst mom worked. Feeding every two hours and not complaining about much. She slept through business meetings and adapted quickly to the nanny at 12 weeks. She took a little time taking a bottle, but once into the routine settled well.  Her feeding was a little heavy and tedious in the beginning,  but like all things with babies  - it is in the scheme of things so short and passes with lightning speed! The sleepless nights and 2 hourly feeds have settled from around 5 months when she started on solids, her daily feeds stabilising and her night feeds dropping to once a night.

She has embrace solids just like her sister did and is devouring veggies, fruit and yogurt with great enthusiasm and ease.

She has also from 6 months moved into her own bedroom, and has become a pleasure to put down each night, happily having a last feed and then rolling over as she closes her eyes and heads effortlessly to dreamland.

She started crèche from 4 months.. and after a bumpy start with a rather horrid establishment, she is well settled in an interim solution and starts her new crèche 1st October.

The little light is certainly coming on in that little brain.. she babbles merrily, is very alert, loves her hands and feet, spits on everything [those teeth are coming!!!] and smiles up a storm. She loves Hayley and thinks that her big sister is her own personal clown! She laughs at the dogs and is fascinated by the kitties. She is a lazy bum when it comes to sitting.. and has shown very little interest… so we continue to work on that one!

Hayley celebrated her birthday when Chloe was but a few weeks old, a proud and wonderful big sister, we celebrated with an Ariel party at Mikes Kitchen for a few select friends.

When Chloe was around 6 weeks old we headed off with Family to the Caven for a quick long weekend. Mom, Chloe and Ma spent mornings chatting and staring and great mountain views whilst the rest of the family did the family friendly hikes, and Hayley and Dave attempted a few mountain bike rides.

When she was 4 Months our little family headed to Zanzibar for a much needed beach retreat, and whilst I was a little nervous about planes and hotel stays with a baby her age -  she took it all in her stride and we had a wonderful 10 days on the white sand beaches splashing in aqu marine seas. The hotel staff loved her and we had a blissful escape from the freezing Johannesburg temperatures. It was the first of many adventures the four of us will share together.  Our little family is complete.

Now at 6 Months we are heading into the latter part of the year, Hayley is wrapping up her grade one year, Dad is starting a new job and Mom is heading into silly season before the end of year quiet.  Mom and Hayley will be cruising the high seas in November together and Dad and Boo [her favorite babble word..]  Will spend a quality weekend together. Life is good.
